Rugby in Fairbanks
The Fairbanks Rugby club is more than any old sports club. Rugby is a sport with a history and tradition of camaraderie and generating life lasting friendships. Our club is an inclusive environment for any and all men and women in Fairbanks to share a passion for the game. Since the club’s establishment in 1982, we have provided rugby to the local community and teams traveling from Anchorage, The Matanuska-Susitna Valley, and Kenai. We have hosted traveling teams in the past from Yukon and the lower 48.
Currently, Fairbanks RFC has over 40 active and social members occupying our practice spaces and events. Our members include business owners, college students, rookies of all ages, active and retired military personnel, mothers, fathers, police officers, firefighters, paramedics, business directors, doctors, teachers, and more. It is the nature of the sport that brings so many of us together. During the season, we practice as two teams, Fairbanks Ravens (women) and Fairbanks Sundawgs (men). All together, the Fairbanks Rugby community averages at about 150 players and social members that range from current players to the founding members that played 40 years ago.
